DENVER, CO – The Colorado District 1 Republican Party proudly congratulates Brita Horn, Russ Andrews, and Darrel Lee Phelan on their election as Chairperson, Secretary, and Vice Chair, respectively, of the Colorado State GOP. This new leadership team, elected on March 29, 2025, marks a turning point for Republicans across the state, ushering in a united front committed to addressing the real challenges facing the Members of the Denver GOP and all citizens of Colorado.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brita Horn, Russ Andrews, and Darrel Lee Phelan to these critical roles,” said Jimmy Smrz, spokesperson for the Colorado District 1 GOP. “This election signals an end to internal distractions and a beginning of purposeful action. We respectfully suggest that local media, no longer tethered to the soap opera of past Colorado GOP leadership struggles, join us in spotlighting the issues that truly matter to our community.”

In a message to supporters, New Colorado State GOP Chair Brita Horn expressed her gratitude and vision:

“Friends, I am profoundly grateful for your unwavering support throughout this journey. Your dedication, hard work, and belief in our vision have led us to this incredible victory. I am truly blessed to have such a committed team by my side. This win is not just ours—it belongs to every individual who believed in the possibility of a brighter future for Colorado. Together, we’ve shown that unity and determination can overcome any challenge. Now, the real work begins. Let’s channel this momentum into action, striving every day to serve our community and fulfill the promises we’ve made. With your continued support, I am confident we can achieve great things for our state. Let’s get to work!!” – Brita Horn

The timing of this state leadership transition is Critical for CD 1. Denver faces mounting challenges that demand serious attention: an immigration crisis straining resources, beloved restaurants closing under economic pressure, burdensome regulations and rising taxes stifling small businesses, and an alarming surge in shootings and stabbings plaguing downtown streets. The Colorado District 1 GOP stands with Horn, Andrews, and Phelan to confront these issues head-on, advocating for practical solutions prioritizing the safety, prosperity, and well-being of Denverites and all Coloradans.

The Colorado GOP is poised to move beyond past divisions and deliver results with this new leadership. The Colorado District 1 GOP calls on residents, stakeholders, and the press to engage in this renewed dialogue—one focused on restoring economic vitality, ensuring public safety, and addressing the tangible impacts of policy decisions. Together, under Horn’s unifying leadership, we can build a stronger future for our state.
